December in India, Part 7

We spent Christmas Day in Jaipur touring some very beautiful and interesting sites.  We visited Hawa Mahal, Amber Fort and Jal Mahal in the morning.  In the early afternoon we went to Jantar Mantar and the Jaipur City Palace in middle of the city.  Then we drove for several hours back to Delhi where we caught our flight home to the U.S.

Leaving the Hotel

Our first stop was Hawa Mahal, or Palace of the Winds, in the middle of the city.  We stopped here to get some good photos in light from the sunrise.

From here we drove to Amber Fort, where we spent several hours sightseeing and even rode an elephant.

After the fort we headed back toward the city of Jaipur, and stopped at the Water Palace, or Jal Mahal, on the way.

The next stop was an observatory designed to tell the time of day to great precision.  It is called the Jantar Mantar and is located in the center of Jaipur, near the City Palace.

Out last stop in Jaipur was the City Palace which is still the home of the Prince of Jaipur.
